Make HDD access Wireless

@blr_p I need your advice again. While the above mentioned set up is working just fine, what are your views on this product - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...hBargains-_-NA-_-NA-_-NA&Item=N82E16833146006 ?

My question is, will it get me connected to the WWW by plugging in the RJ45 cable from my MTNL connection? Or will I require a separate modem too? All of those devices are N150 (not sure about your tv). So N900 will be a waste as you'll never get the speed. Also once you cross one wall your 2xN450 performs like a 2xN300. In the same room N450 gives you better speed provided your clients are also N450. Which is not the case with you.

What router are you using currently ? What features does this product offer that you cannot get presently ?

No need to dedicate a pc to run the dlna server i guess. anything else.

The product has an internet port. So ethernet from the modem connects to the router.

I don't understand why you ask seperate modem ?

You already have a wifi router connected to your modem. So if you get this one, presumably you will be replacing that router. So where is the need for a seperate modem.

Currently I am using a D-Link 2750U ADSL Modem Router, but the WD MyNet device is a router only.

Check for firewalls on the machine where the ftp server is installed. You have to allow port 21 (default for ftp or whatever custom port you have set).

Make sure you use a static private ip for the server, Don't use DHPCP otherwise the ip address will keep changing.

ftp client needs to use active connections if there is a firewall otherwise passive.

Thanks blr_p. I created an exception in the windows firewall for the Filezilla server and it works. Thanks a lot for your help.
