Hi.

recently a cousin got married and got 3 dvds of about 1 hour each, he wants to make one dvd (4.7gb from it with some clarity loss or may be a dual layer dvd. all three dvds are in vob format 1-2gb each. please suggest so i can make him one dvd with menus. tried nero encode/vision/burningrom but didnt work.

regards

Rip the VOB files from the DVD. Then In Nero Re-Code / Encode << whatever it is called lately :P >> yo have to create a new video dvd. In the menus you are selecting individual VOB files. That should work.

There is no need to re-encode anything. If you are sticking to DVD format then you should be able to extract the video + audio streams as is and concatenate them in the final result using a dvd authoring software. Don't think there are any one button press tool that will do this without a re-encode which is always bad and should be avoided whenever possible.

The result should be well under the 4.7GB limit and its good there will be under a GB free. Make loads of copies of that vid as it should last a lifetime..

Try [strike]Handbrake[/strike] VOB2MPG.

VOB2MPG converts your DVD to MPG file(s). It goes through a whole DVD VIDEO_TS folder and joins up the various vobsets to produce MPGs for the different titles. It does NOT reconvert the video and audio. Requires .net framework 2.

VOB2MPG Pro (£12) has more features: Choice of titles to extract, chapters to extract in a title, Ability to re-order chapters, Handle vob id changes in a title, DVD angles, Chapter preview, Audio stream preview and extraction and much more.
