Hmm.....this should be good they normally rectify all their problems with the .1 editions :)

I am facing problem with GRUB boot loader in dual booting Mandriva/Any Linux with windows. In case of improper shutdown either within windows/ Linux,GRUB crash to blinker only. The only way to solve problem is checking all drives for errors/reinstall GRUB.

I have NTFS and EXT3 partitions on hard disk. What should be permanent solution to problem ?

Saddy BUMP to problem..No one even tried

Mandriva 2009.1 Rc1 released :) Brought awesome new features and hopefully a new artwork :)

Will post more info once i test the Rc1 CD :)

Edit : Since MDV is the main developer and sponsor of K3b it seems they are finally awakened for KDE 4 port :)

KDE team is currently working and helping in finalizing K3B port for KDE 4. It will be all available for final release.

:yahoo: Can't wait to use my fav. burning s/w in linux in KDE 4 exclusive port :)

I'm also getting it to give it a whirl... hopefully the right ISO? : mandriva-linux-one-2009.1-rc1-KDE4-int-cdrom-i586.iso

^^Get the free edition. The artwork for One and Powerpack will be finalized in Rc2 .. The free edition has got new looks .. Yea you can try One KDE if you don't have problem with artwork :P

The free ISO is 4.3 GB for i586 and x64 ! I only see a "dual" iso which is CD size... what does "dual" mean? Should I download that... the "One" Im downloading is also i586 couldnt find a 64 bit version...

Looks like there is no K3B or KTorrent in the One live CD. They've kept the appearance like old KDE3 as much as possible for familiarity I guess. Again I feel there is clutter (reminds me of openSUSE clutter) - two control centers, multiple places to configure network, appearance etc. But still it might be better than Kubuntu which is a little plain since it has probably usefull stuff like setting up shared folders etc. And "power users" will like the vast configuration options. Overall its still Ubuntu/GNOME for me for its clean and simple approach with the best selection of default apps on the CD :ohyeah:

I might install it this weekend just to see about that new speedboot thingy... then will wait for Fedora 11 beta release to try that out, looking forward to nvidia modesetting/plymouth eye candy there...

^^Afaik.. The MCC is only for Admin setup, the things you configure from Mandriva CP cannot be done from new System Settings[previouslyknown as Kcontrol].

Also the final version will come with Kcontrol and K3b will be ready by then :)

MDV 2009.1 RC2 release and with unreleased fglrx 8.60 i.e. Catalyst 9.4 :D Thankfull it will work with ATI now :@ courtesy ATI pathetic driver support :}

Nonetheless I will post a 2009.1 Rc2 first looks thread sooon :)

i downloaded mandriva the dvd version .. i installed it .. unfortunately i dont know the GUi doesnt show up at all . i dont if its because i dont have gfx card
even open suse 11.0 live cd .. it boooted all properly but just didnt start the x server !!
:( :( do you guys think its because of gfx .. or is there any other reason for it??

^^Which version I mean please post the full details of ISO ? Have you done the checksum ?

Press Esc if some error is coming or not.. Try the ISO in Vmware or Vbox..

the thing is ... the iso and all are perfect in my opinion !!
and booting also goes perfectly fine as in after mandriva installation.. i can loign using command line and it is same even in case of running the suse 11.0 live cd
the GUI alone doesnt work dont know why
