Hi All
I bought a used M800 6 months back now my M800 has developed underbody corrosion which I came to know only recently when I was getting wheel alignment done. The guy showed me the areas of corrosion which are basically near the front wheels. The particular areas have practically corroded away, the body has typically been "eaten away" by the rust.

Now I need to get this fixed. Could anyone please suggest me how and where I can get it fixed, preferably in South Delhi. Also how bad is this rust/corrosion issue generally, the alignment guy told me to get it fixed in time or else later on wheels would never remain properly aligned irrespective of how much I work on getting it fixed. Anyone have had similar experience? Could you please help me out on this?

My M800 is a 2003 MPFI model. This probably was present also at the time of purchase but I didnt check the underbody of the car, since the car was in pretty good condition, with odometer reading of 20,000 kms only (genuinely).

TIA

I would suggest get it done from an authorized Maruti showroom. Generally if the body is totally eaten up they have to replace the part. In case if you do not know a local garage owner (one you have faith in) then Maruti showroom is your only best bet. Also get the anti corrosion treatment done after you have got it repaired.

Get the underbody painted (black) at the MS service centre. Got it done for my MS Alto, last year.

The condition will only worsen, once the rainy season starts.

However, like Roxtin pointed out, the underbody should be in a decent condition. Try to salvage what you can.

I remember seeing another 800 with the same problem , the entire underbody and floor was completely corroded and they were not able to do Wheel allignment no matter what.
Get it thoroughly checked for structural integrity and get the opinion of at least 2 garages before proceeding. Sometimes if the garage is busy they will do some quick fix work to mask the problem instead of fixing it

Thanks everyone for the inputs. :)

@bottle I will definitely get it checked at 2 or more places, at MASS as well as individual garages. In my case underbody is only corroded at the places I mentioned. Rest of underbody is in pretty decent shape till now, still I would get it thoroughly checked.

similar thing happened when we bought a used maruti800 from mahindra automart located at goregaon...the guys name was abhishek who somehow convinced us to buy the car...it was our biggest mistake of not taking mecahnic with us since our known mechanic was out of town..the car then we learnt was an accidental car&had been abused badly when came to known through one og the garage guys who said this car had come here repairs&was badly damaged...also odo showed it clocked some 37K&also we were being told by maruti dealer this car belongs to year2000,infact we were told its 2001 make...pretty bad experience...we had repaired it&incurredcharges arouund 20k&later sold the car within a year for 75k...though we bought it for 1.3k...

That's a pretty bad experience, really sorry to know about your bad experience. However in my case situation is not that bad. My Car is otherwise in very good condition, engine is also very good (confirmed by various mechanics). Corrosion is the only major issue I have encountered in the last six months of its ownership.

my used car buying experience was bad..couldn`t beleive a reputed company like mahindra are buying accidental cars&selling them...they would be having their own mechanics&can1t they even make out...:@

^ Looking up reviews/opinions on Mahindra's First Choice will reveal many such cases... :@

My advice to all fellow members please don`t go by claims such as certified cars,120 quality checks, blah blah...please take your mechanic&get it inspected...:)
