Also, doesn't the I10 come with ABS? It is the most important feature to look for after airbags and even before stuff like elec. windows etc. IMHO.

me and namic are indica fanbois :ashamed:

nothing beats the space and feel of the indica :D , and in my case , turbo FTW :D

montylee, if you'll be doing a lot of running (>1000 kms /month), give the indica dicor a look ;)

Only the top-of-the-line model, i.e the i10 Magna comes with the ABS;

The Era doesn't; :)

i won't be running the car much. Majorly during weekends.

I am still confused whether to go for i10 or WagonR. I think i better have a look at i10 personally and then decide.

Anybody has links to a good i10 review?

That'll be much better;
Drive the 2nd base model Era;

And then compare it with the Wagon-R VXi; :)

Here's the best one: Hyundai i10 Review - Apple of the 'i' | Expert Review/Road-Test - CarWale.com India

And here're some user reviews on the same: Hyundai i10 Review, Hyundai i10 Price, India, Mileage

I would suggest go for a test drive on both the vehicles with an open mind, and after you drive the i10, if you feel paying 50k is justified for the added features and comfort, go for the i10. After all, you shouldn't regret your decision on your first car purchase.

i'll try going for a test drive along with my cousin...since i learnt car driving 2 years ago, so he'll be the one test driving it...

dont know personally i did not like the drive of i10 , i am sure i will be challenged for this fact a lot ..but i had my eyes set on an i10 but i did the TD and nope it just didnot feel right ..no idea why the ride never felt comfortable ...on the other the palio was just great but did not pick it ...the spark fit into my hand so perfectly while it was one of the cars i thought i would never go for...but the drive was so nice ...that i grabbed it ....

moral ....dont take anyone 's word , your personal test drive will choose the car for you

the problem is that i learnt car driving abt 2 years ago. So, i highly doubt if i'll be able to test drive anything. I'll take my cousin along for the test drive.

Quite untrue. When my friend bought his first car (Zen Estilo), I did all the initial driving. And the last time i had driven a car that much was a Fiat (Pal Padmini) some 12 years ago! :lol:

Besides, discount Wagon R from your list. Its gonna be phased out soon and a newer car makes a better choice as a first car, as ppl generally tend to keep it for a long time. Also, Zen Estilo (looks are subjective) is a good car (compared to Wagon R). It has the same engine and gear box as Wagon R, though the gear box feels better in the Estilo. Worth a test drive.

Even an Alto is a good small car to drive around but the 800cc may not be as much fun to drive as the other 1000+cc cars.

If you are not very particular about a brand new car, you could be looking at a year or 2 old Swift Vxi which shud be around 3.5~3.75 lacs ;) Much better compared to the other small cars :D

i had finalized i10 but then my parents asked me to buy a 2nd hand car so that i can learn driving better.

So, i bought a 2005 October Alto Lxi...will drive it for few months then go for a new car :)

^not a bad idea, so congrats and never buy a car unless you have driven it yourself and are comfortable with it.
