Building an AMD based system with the Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition but i dont know which board to buy.

1.Gigabyte MA785GMT-UD2H @6k

2.Asus M4A785TD-V-EVO @6.6k

Asus specs say,

DDR3 1800(O.C.)/1600(O.C.)/1333/1066/800

Giga specs say,

DDR3 1800(OC) / 1666 / 1333 / 1066

Does that mean Asus doesn't have default 1600 support?

It doesnt matter one is ATX and one is mATX.I dont need crossfire either.Should i go for Gigabyte? or is there a better alternative.

Rest of the stuff i need to buy:

---------------------------------

RAM: dunno yet

GPU : Probably sapphire 4850 or 70.

PSU: Corsair VX450

Stuff that i already have:

---------------------------

Dell2408WFP,Logitech z5500,Xfi Xtreme music,CM mystique cabinet,KB,Mouse,HDD,ODD.

Ill be using the PC for : Full HD movies, browsing and occasional gaming

OS : win7 64bit

EDIT : Pls suggest me a 4 GB DDR3 Kit around 7k.

Seeing your requirements, I would say you don't need expensive DDR3 RAMs. Good DDR3 1600 CL7 will cost around 9k for 4GB, getting 1600 CL9 for around 7-8k doesn't make any sense. your options would be:

1. Get cheaper 1333MHz RAMs and be done with it and if you want, you can sell them in future to get better ones when they get to a sensible price point

2. Get good 4GB DDR2 1066 CL5 or 800MHz CL4 RAMs which cost far cheaper than DDR3 yet provide 95% same performance along with an AM2+ board.

The money saved can be invested on a good GPU or something else.

Dude DDR2 aint looking cheap either.
Do u think transcend 1333mhz @5.4k would suffice the setup?

Asus M4A785TD-V-EVO @6.6k
As you have a sound card too it is better to go for a ATX mobo as u wil get more spacing between components.
Transcend seems to have very bad RMA service. Go for Kinsgton 4GB 1333MHz DDRIII ~5-5.2k.
Or go for GSkill F3-10666 CL9D-4GBNQ PC3-10666 / DDR3 1333Mhz 2 x 2GB 9-9-9-24 5750/-

Even DDR3 1600MHz will not make any tangible difference in an AM3 setup. DDR2 1066 CL5 will be on par or even sometimes faster than 1333 CL9.

Bought 2x2GB Corsair value RAM sticks for 5.6k.

Corsair VS2GB1333D3 2GB Value Select (1333MHz) DDR3 RAM, non-ECC, 240-pin DIMM, Voltage: 1.5V, CAS 9-9-9-24, Unbuffered
