Bought it from HP India web. Seems they have hiked the price by 300rs.
Model number is GK-320. Rectified in previous post of mine.
Can anyone recommend a mech kb with red keys? Preferably <3k. I've looked high and low, not able to find one. All the budget buys available have blue keys.
Thank you. I'd forgotten to mention this one. I saw it, but doesn't work for my use case unfortunately.Amazon.in: Buy DSI 90-Key USB Multimedia Keyboard with Cherry Red Mechanical Key Switches & 3 USB Ports (Black) Online at Low Prices in India | DSI Reviews & Ratings

Blue are pretty loudBumping this thread to just ask a question without having to create a new one.
I was looking into buying myself a proper kb near the end of this month for around roughly 2-2.5k.
Was wondering what sort of switch (and kb too lol) would be the best for me. Now i know that and believe me i have read it so many times on reddit too that it's all personal preference but there's just no way for me to know that when it's not possible for me to try out the switches unless i buy it first and then return it if i don't like it.
Plus since my price is already low for a mech, i don't even have that many options when it comes to switches (seems to be mainly blue or brown).
My current speed on my logitech wireless kb is around 90-95 wpm give or take. On speedmonkey.com 30 sec i usually get around 110-120 wpm (Just stating this incase my speed matters),
I more or less want a keyboard which is comfortable for gaming as well as typing and honestly want to experience this mechanical pleasure you guys are orgasming about lmao.
P:S :- Are blue switches distinctly loud for even a person who is not in the same room as you? let's say outside your room etc
Thank you!
I have shortlisted these two for now then
TAG GAMERZ WARRIOR KB
Cosmic Byte CB-GK-13 Brown
After having looked at this video too, wow those blue switches are really loud
and after reading a comment on that video

Ngl, i'm kinda leaning into the brown switches atm. I'm not reallly an avid typer, as in i will continuously type something for 5 hours straight (I can but there's nothing to type!), and more of a fast typer. Right now itself i'm going pretty fast, and i can only imagine how pissed my dad would get if he starts hearing clickity clack sounds coming from my room.
Thank you @superczar @KrishT for replying though!
edit:- Actually coming to think of it, i think i'll just try the blue ones first and if i like it (or my dad doesn't like it) replace them with the browns.
avoid clicky switches go for quieter ones , one of my frnd got those fancy expensive keyboard and game at night but due to the clicks all of his family member were annoyed and the stares that he received was heheBumping this thread to just ask a question without having to create a new one.

Wanted to get a proper keyboard since i spent most of my time on the pc these days.why not avoid mech keyboard alto
if you dont require backlit one why dont you go for trusty tvs gold pro with red cherry mx should be a good starter keyboardWanted to get a proper keyboard since i spent most of my time on the pc these days.
Maybe there is an easier way to zero down on the right choice.Wanted to get a proper keyboard since i spent most of my time on the pc these days.
I've rarely used laptops, i've mostly used external KBs on desktop my whole life.Maybe there is an easier way to zero down on the right choice.
I think everyone would agree that basic external Keyboards that use cheap membranes are no good for anyone who uses a kB for typing even moderately.
So yes, you need an upgrade.
I think the simple question you need to answer is this.
Do you like the keyboards that come on laptops (excluding the really low end systems)?
If yes, just get an external KB with scissor mechanism..it will cost you about 2.5-3.5K and you will be very likely very happy with it.
If no - then look at mechanicals.
Within mechanicals, blue isn't really recommended for extensive typing usage (and the reason I had to dispose mine)
Brown or white is what u should look for
yeah - thats the reason I asked if you like (good ) laptop keyboards.I've rarely used laptops, i've mostly used external KBs on desktop my whole life.
For me i don't type that extensively, more like intensely so to speak where i type faster than i think lol. Only had a situation once where had to type alot. It's more about comfort in typing fast for me at this point.
I've actually tested out the cherry mx blues on a tvs gold keyboard before, not on an actual system since apparently it didn't work anymore. It did feel pretty good though but don't know how comfortable it would actually be if i was using it for real and not jump randomly spamming the keys.
Browns mostly seem to be the best one for me, Reds i don't really understand who it exactly appeals to and I can't seem to find whites at a budget at all.
