Media player app with subtitle support

Is there any free, good android app available for watching movies with srt file ?

I actually tried MX player and VLC. Subtitle was on the same folder. Still, it didn't fetch.

Some new update must have removed that option. I downloaded the new version and only way to see subs is to click on the text icon on the left of the play button and load it from a list. Pretty dumb imo.

In MX, or VLC ?

In VLC. Leave that. Use SPMC.

I tested SPMC and it loads subs from subs folder automatically too. Only drawback is interface text is too small. Even video play back looked a little slow to me compared to VLC, but my phone is around 4 years old and weak. If your phone can do hevc you won't have problems.

I prefer MX player, if possible.

I use BSPlayer for the same as it is better at SMB support as most of the videos I play are from my NAS box and BSPlayer seems to have the best support for network though.

As to subtitles it plays them automatically if they are in the same folder and the name is the same as the video file.
