Dual-core processors will now come in even more affordable smartphones in the form of Mediatek MT6572 chipset.
Mediatek has announced its new MT6572 chipset which packs 1.2GHz ARM Cortex A7 CPU along with support for 3G HSPA+ , Bluetooth , GPS and Wi-Fi. It supports up to qHD ( 960x540 resolution ) displays. The camera support is only up to 5MP image and 720p video.
Currently the Mediatek MT6577 chipset powers most budget dual-core smartphones which has Cortex A9 cores, the MT6572 based smartphones are expected to much cheaper with slightly lesser performance. The first MT6572 handsets are expected to arrive in June .
