Mediatek announced its first true octa-core S0C few months back and now first smartphone powered by the processor has been officially unveiled which comes from Chinese manufacturer UMI. The UMI X2S was spotted at Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition).
The UMI X2S is the first smartphone to be announced which is powered by Mediatek MT6592 SoC sporting eight-core CPU. The smartphone had the MT6592 with eight Cortex A7 cores capable of running at 1.5GHz simultaneously.
Other specs of the UMI X2S and 5 inch Full HD 1920x1080 resolution, 13MP rear camera with Sony sensor.
The Mediatek quad-core processor had recently showed up in AnTuTu benchmark recently at 1.7GHz , it performed better than Snapdragon S4 Pro and almost on par with Snapdragon 600 in the benchmark.
The UMI X2S is expected to be priced around USD $300 mark. The phone could be launched by UMI Mobile India, but seeing that the brand has not been able to deliver the UMI X2 previously as promised, we are hardly excited about their launches anymore.
