There is absolutely nothing wrong with these .Frankly, the sound reproduction is astonishing for the price. they have this "mainstream warm bassy sound signanture which is instantly likeable..
With every iem, you have that first impression when you put them in your ears. sometimes you love the sound , sometimes you hate it due to sibilance , brightness etc... When i first heard the gr02, i was simply blown away. The bass is punchy , impact full with precision and control, something that lacks in iems in this price range. Joker is right, there are very few phones in this price range that do bass so well...i was quite amazed . The bass seems to have an airy feel to it, the impact gives the feeling like you are in a club with bass drums all around you . NO i am am not exaggerating here , its just that the bass impact and punch are that good on these. i wouldn't hype anything up but its hard not to on these...
Midrange is smooth, crisp , and detailed . Neither recessed nor forward. Its just placed right in centre where it should be .. if you are coming from a low end iem, you would hear every micro detail in the music .
Treble took me for a surprise...Again , very few iems in this price range have such a well extended treble .No sibilance or harshness whatsoever.
comparing with m2- M2 even though is priced higher, there's something quite not right about it....its a placement or positional issue..it dosen't throw out sonic cues pin pointing which part of the room a particular instrument is placed in...... it sounds small as in music playing in a cramped congested room. . there's no sense of space ....i have discussed this with esanthosh a couple of times too...
in terms of bass response, m2 has a similar soft bass impact like the gr02 but its not quite as airy as gr02. midrange clarity seems a tad better on the m2 but the lack of soundstage depth kills the listening pleasure(at least for me) . separation is better on the gr02 . Again i prefer the GR02 more than my m2's .
comparison with soundmagic e10--- GR02 sounds more balanced with much better treble response.... e10 's midrange sounds recessed......bass impact wise-the e10 has a better sub bass response, GR02 has a mid bass emphasis which gives that "in da club" kinda feeling...i would rate gr02 a tier above e10 for sure
NOW, The reason why i am selling these has nothing to do with sQ. The thing is - i listen to music late night when i am in bed. Gr02's housing seems to protrude out of my ear , so i cant sleep on them sideways. it hurts my ear. Never the less , these are fantastic iem's . a must buy in the 2.5k category. i am surprised why people aren't snatching these up?they are crazy value
