And you call that an impressive platform for the development of games because there are titles that can span ~1.7 GB in size?

Wait until I get you a list of the iOS titles developed so far.

PS: My roomie has 2 Android devices - a phone and a tablet (Asus Transformer TF300) so I'd know!

The only reason why Apple has better games because most developers gets paid well for there work compared to android.
I have to say Apple is for people who has additional money and dont know how to spend it.:D

m waiting for this console to launch but again it is set to launch in q1 2013 which is a bit far. At that time tegra3 will get old and thr will be anything new in the market which will take down the tegra3 prices. So more profit for the ouya team and hence $99 price is justified. This would be more like a tv box for me for handling downloads and streaming media. I m very doubtfull that this can come any near to the current gen consoles in gaming -.-

For the first part, that may or may not be true. Do you have any stats/proof to backup that claim?

The main reason here is hardware fragmentation. There are a LOT of devices out there for the Android OS and developing a title for a particular OS has its drawbacks when the OS goes into a wide variety of hardware from several manufacturers. The dev. cannot ensure that the game would run smoothly without any hiccups on all the hardware. OTOH, consoles and Apple hardware are a select few and the devs. can ensure that the titles are optmised for the hardware prior to releasing it. The end result being the customers don't complain because they paid for a title and it failed to work properly on the device.

The second part is bull!

exactly my thought!!!!!! +1

No not based on that but on the graphics and gameplay on a portable device. This was in response to your "And what of the titles? Angry Birds, Cut the Rope and the likes?"
I never compared gaming between android and iOS. Though i got it from Kanishk that there are more iOS games than Android plus i have both the devices so i can play on any of them. :P & i have played huge titles on iOS as well.

All i wanted to say is that the games which are available for the android devices(which are descent by far in terms of graphics) gets ported to this console for gaming at the price of 6k would be nice cause many games on android are worth playing and a console for 99$ is worth spending on which can provide various other possibilities i.e downloading, player etc. Although one cannot compare them to the current gaming consoles obviously that would be idiotic.

Yeah, This is the drawback of android gaming. Some will run great some will cause hiccups. Apple wins over this cause the hardware changes are less as compared to Android Cellphone/tablet hardwares. Some games are optimized for PowerVR won't run on Mali400 without giving glitches we have to use Plugins for that sadly. eg: Ultimate Spiderman Total Mayhem.
Taking this into consideration i guess Devs have to work more on android gaming than on iOS because of variety of hardware right?

And since most devices can be rooted (I believe that's the term for unlocking in Android devices?) pretty easily, the titles can be easily sourced off the web and installed thus wasting the efforts of the devs. And that is one of the many reasons the devs. (the really good ones I mean) wouldn't consider developing a title for the Android device.

In terms of performance? Specs. of a tablet against the current 7th gen. consoles would be pointless. In terms of quality of games developed? We'll get to know shortly.

This console or rather device however, has tremendous potential as a replacement for a media player or something that can stream content off the web (provided you have a good ISP), support a lot of audio/video formats over the USB, can bitstream HD audio over the HDMI, web browser and may be as a low power download machine as well.

only compared this to current gen consoles because its main target is console gaming!! M not talking about the graphics here, just the success of ouya which is pretty much doubtfull.

As much as rooting is involved so is jailbreaking. But as far i know one can't compare, who wins over 'the wasting the efforts of devs' Anyways its something i don't want to scratch my mind on. Leave at it. :)

and i don't think uh any game exclusive to the console will be developed. Maybe they'll 'remaster'(is the the word to be used?) the current, old and future games to be playable on this console. Most of the games are HD but i dunno why they use HD here is it full HD, HD Ready what is it i dunno but will be able to play on an out source LCD-LED and stuff.

P.S.- Has any one ever played any game with a HDMI cable connected to a full HD LCD or something? I want to know where i can buy that Mini-HDMI cable and is it worth it?

Games like NOVA 3 and Real Racing are real good. If they make it, and for under $10 I don't think many would be complaining.
