Hi All,

Nothing new in the title, but with the recent change in the rule, preventing new members from sending PMs, this issue is only going to get worse.

Members need to stop:

1) Posting suggestions without reading the whole thread. Many instances where they suggest steps already suggested by others AND the OP has even done it without success.

2) Posting in threads where the issue has been resolved/decision has been made/purchase already done.

It would also be helpful if mods allowed OPs to self lock the thread they started, this will help curb this issue.

Thoughts?

i also though many times why its not this way.. but then as sale threads are involves two party - seller & buyer, there should be some check and balances before the thread get closed.
there is definitely scope of improvement in sale threads -- like when i deal is done - the OP can sent request for mods/ instead of tagging someone request to close.

Also overall sale thread need moderation - i see some lengthy ( sometime with helpful information) discussion are going in few of the sale threads. i don't see any reason why a sale thread can go upto 3-4 pages.

Overall - i think we need to reconsider few things, overall for TE, like:
For PM - restrict strict 1-week delay before able to send any PM, and minimum meaningful post count 3 or so. post in sales must not count.

Admins, along with few old members can brainstorm and come up with refined rules, to lure more users as well, while maintaining the quality of this forum.
Also i feel we have understaffed moderators team.. few more who are active frequently can be added.

I also want a section of forum. which should be hidden for non logged-in users (guest), and sensitive discussion such as politics, personal discussion must go in there. this will boost participation and increase user engagement of this forum.

There is a much easier way to do things, which has been followed till now. Whenever you see such a post, just report it to the admins/mods with the reason. I do it from time to time, whenever I come across such a post.

Is it me or others feel the same when they see a new member asking for help in a thread (when he can simply google for suggestions) is just to increase there post count.

Check this thread, the OP clearly came here sale thread and doesn't bother about reading the rules (maybe he thought that his post count will increase)
