Hi. I have an old compaq(sr1630il) system with 256 mb ddr2 ram. I want to upgrade it now. The motherboard supports upto 533 mhz ddr2.
If I install a 667 mhz or 800 mhz of ddr2, won't the ram work?
Also, some softwares show that the maximum memory supported is 4gb. But on website of compaq, it is given as the maximum memory approved by hp/compaq is 2gb(2x1gb). So, Can i install a single 2gb stick?

U won't get a 533 mhz ram from any shop now.

U can try out TE dealer's market here

But i wud prefer u buy a new mobo+ram or sell ur current config for 5k-6k(max) and take a new rig

66mhz ram may or may not work

Thanks. Ya, I've already decided on an upgrade to core i5. But want to keep this rig as well. So, can 667 work with mobo supporting a max of 533? Will 667's bandwidth be reduced to 533?

Yes it should be reduced to 533mhz

Hi. I installed a 667 mhz ram and is working but i've lost the audio on my system. No audio at all. I'm using windows xp. I reinstalled the audio drivers. But, in the device manager, it is showing "device is not functioning properly."
Please help at the earliest.
