Graphic Cards Mercury 8600GT

Figuring stuff out
Adept
Well my hunt for cheap cards took me to a dealer who's offered me an 8600GT 256 MB DDR3 card for just Rs.3200 . It is a new card but the brand is Mercury and carries just one year of warranty. He told me these have been selling like hot cakes. Now I am tempted to buy at that price but am a little unsure about the reliability of their products . I checked the website of the manufacturer and they don't even have drivers available for download yet. Here are the links:

I seek some advice from you guys regarding this....should i actually go ahead and try out the card or look towards some better manufacturers instead ?

Its working fine. I got it for 3900rs :) . Everest is detecting it as ECS 8600GT.. clock speed is 600, mem-800(1600Mhz ddr) and shader-1242Mhz. its a good deal :D

ECS is Elite Group and is quite ok for video cards :)

For 3.2k its a steal :D

And the design/HSF also looks ok :)

Btw Corsair is also serviced by Kobian India :p....their warranty is pretty decent and has good presence even in smaller cities

i had got info on same card @2.8k 2 months back...wen was tryin to get a good config for a cyber cafe....i askd 8600gt@2.8k cantb askd to cross check it he did it n said yep 256mb 8600gt mercury brand....i didnt take it seriously.....but i guess tht was ddr2 version....askd fr ddr3 tht time he quoted arnd 3.4k.

Mercury... I've bought Mercury PSU's, MP3 CD players, and cabinets.

The quality of Mercury products are _generally_ substandard and the PSU / MP3 CD players didn't last more than an year.

But if these cards were originally made by ECS, then they might last longer. -_-

Hmmm.....interesting set of responses then......looks like this card could be worth a go , particularly since the owner of one of these cards (broar) appears satisfied........so I will probably get it.... btw @ broar94: has the gaming performance been at least decent with the card ? ....I mean are there any stability issues particularly with stuff like COD4 ?

The 8600GT card mentioned here is using the same HSF used by Galaxy 256DDR2

so it will get more warm and will be slightly noisier than ASUS 256DDR3 version that is using a Leaf Blower.

Its been very good with this decent card :bleh: . No problems at all. Scores 10200 points at 3DMark05(default settings). COD4 is no problem for this card. Plays UT3 quite well too!(40-50fps in 1024x768res). Crysis medium is fairly smooth. High is just playable(1024x768)(I intend to play at high when i get my copy coz its so damn good!)

@Aman.pitbull, 55-56C temp when idle. Fan is not noisy.

looks like an awesome card for the price then.....thanks everyone then, specially to broar94 for the valuable inputs......I am finally getting one of these :D (possibly today)....... :) :p:

UPDATE: Just got the card.......and that too for just 3000 bucks !! :eek:hyeah:
just hope that it lives up to my expectations......on my way home now ........
will post about the kind of performance that it gives in a few days.......
