I was wondering which series is the most popular and the best around since MGS4 and FFXIII have been finally confirmed and will be released for the PS3.

I think I'll have to go for Metal Gear because there aren't many RPG lovers out there. Not only that, it has a great storyline, characters, and much more. Plus the new game, MGS4, will blow away all the other games on the PS3 including FFXIII.

What do ya think? Please make sure to make your own vote and state why!

Multiple Vote'D! Besides I don't think its fair to compare different genre, but FF will generate more hype than MGS, that's for sure.

I have been a big fan of the MGS series since the first one for PS. The series probably accounts for more than 50% of my gaming time ever. Every game keeps getting better than the previous one. Final Fantasy was also a series I tried to get into back when VII came out for PS. I just couldn't get into it and didn't like the wait and attack/command setup. It's just personal preference, but the Final Fantasy games still look incredible.

Metal Gear: Heavy Weapons, Macho Men, Intensive Battle :gun2:

Final Fantasy: Heavy Weapons, Macho Men, Intensive Battle, Beautiful GALs :ohyeah: :hap2:

i agree with params these 2 games are from totaly different genres.. so not use compairing them... one is an rpg other is a well all in one :P

neways my vote goes fr mgs cause i still cant get used to the fighting method in final fantasy

Snake. Snake. SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE!!!!!

Hard question because I loved MGS3 to bits and hated the other MGS games. I can't get into JRPGs at all so that kinda makes them even. Still MGS wins simply because it had  Revolver Ocelot.

BTW did anyone else see the Secret theater bits in the MGS3 Persistance (2 DVD) some of the funniest videos in any game. EVER.

rofl! Gotta play MGS1 again sometime to hear that again!

MGS3 was an epic, a lot more different than MGS2's complicated'ness. The story of The Boss and Snake was emotionally very strong.

BTW did anyone else see the Secret theater bits in the MGS3 Persistance (2 DVD) some of the funniest videos in any game. EVER.

There was also a 3rd disk in the Launch edition of the game, 'Existence', it had a 3hr long MGS3 movie, Kojima had directed it with cut-scenes and in-game footage from the game and made it exactly like a movie. Too bad this disk wasn't in the regular Substance pack.

And RPG's, specially FF are pretty hard to get into. For newcomers, I suggest FF12, then go back to FFX and FFX-2. Though once you spend enough time and grasp the concept of RPG in FF's, it becomes addicting.

FF 12 is a lot more like Kotor than the older FFs isn't it? The random encounters are gone (thankfully) and the combat system feels a lot more fluid. What made me give up on FF12 was the silly amount of level grinding needed to stand a chance later on. Plus the really stupid fact that people that are not active in your party never gain XP, so it kinda makes them worthless later on if you stick with a set of characters for a long time.

What I can't live with in JRPGs is the checkpoint save system. I have spent most of my RPG gaming hours playing WRPGs that let you save anywhere. After that checkpoints seem like an annoying bit.

And I couldn't find the 3 DVD set of MGS3 for love or money. 2 DVD set was hard enough to find in Palika. Thankfully the better camera option in it makes the game immensly better.
