Looking to get a new MFD to replace my dead HP Deskjet.

Priorities

- A4 Size Flat Bed Color Scanner

- Fast Black Printing

- Copy without having to switch on PC (Will be used extensively as a Xerox as for home use)

- Print/Copy should work without requiring installation of a color cartridge.

- Easily available and affordable Black Cartridges. (No refilling shit as I have had very bad experience with that)

- Photo Printing on glossy paper (this will be on rare occasions only)

Budget : Max 6.5~7k, but lower the better. Don't want to go with cheap way too entry level sub 3.5k shit either.

Nice. This thread will be extremely informative for me as well. Looking for exactly the same thing with identical requirements.

Individual ink tanks works for me... They tend to work out cheaper in the long run since you only need to replace the cartridge which is low & not the whole tricolor.... Only gripe would be that the price will be little higher than your budget... MRP. is Rs. 9,995/-...

In the Union Budget they did reduced some duty on printers... Please check local prices...

^^ Canon used to have very costly ink cartridges. What do the cartridges cost for this? Also I think the cost is bloated because of the WiFi. It is a totally unnecessary feature for me.

Finally any thing from HP that night be suitable?

^... Rs. 725/- for each cartridge... Don't know the capacity of these in ml. It will give you an idea of cost per page & the no. of pages it can give you.... That should be the criteria to find out if the cartridges are expensive or not... Doesn't matter if its even 1k only if you get more pages than those tiny Canon cartridges which are cheaper...

Wi-Fi & network connectivity is indeed not required on most counts but the performance & other features are very good... But do look at other options as well... I just suggested my personal favorite in that price band...
