A friend gave me his old window ac for my rented place because i didnt wanna install a new split here. he lost the remote so i've been using mi remote since. works awesome.

Doubt if it will work with non MI phones if they dont have an IR blaster.

For samsung s4 you can try AnyMote also... Mi Remote in my Mi Max 2 failed for old samsung window AC, but AnyMote was able to control it.

All these remote app work only if the phone supports IR Blaster.. Not all phone has that. Just for everyone's clarification
