Folks my SDCard of 8 Gb (SanDisk) has died again on me. I am pissed off, cause there goes all the backups and images/videos. Can you please recommend me something that's 8GB/16 GB, fast and has long life.

Please suggest urgently, I am kind of stuck with a 2 GB one right now.

Thanks
+LT

Sandisk, Transcend, Verbatim and Samsung are good brands.

I was intially of the opinion that Sandisk was much better than the others. But it just turned out be brand perception (and also of course their good quality) but need not better than be, lets say, transcend.

Just go with a Class 6 card, preferrably 16GB if you can afford of any of the brands given above, which you find for the lowest price.

I got a Verbatim Class 10 16GB card but don't see much advantage over my previous Class 6 except transfer speeds over USB to PC.

Some people over at xda have actually found that the access times on class10 cards are the slowest. So while they're good at transferring large files over usb, they may not be the best choice for smartphones.

Me and my friends are using a Verbatim micro SD card. It's have all the thing you want in the micro SD card. It's have high speed transferring large files and it's famous in India related to DVD and the micro SD card. Hope this help. Cheers.

Brand wise, Transcend seems to be pretty good. Been using their micro sd's in my PSP and Phone for over 2 years now.

Using a Sandisk 32 Gb Micro SD card (Class 6 ultra) worth Rs.2200 in my Motorola Defy and got a similar Sandisk 64gb ultra micro sd card for Rs.3500 to be used as a tertiary storage device in my Thinkpad x220 along with the 64 gb msata ssd+ 320 7200rpm hdd.
I have also used the Samsung 16gb class 6 card. Its equally good.
