I came across a handset by Micromax in Big Bazaar or Pantaloons or some such place, and it looked pretty nice, so I asked the chap how much..and man, did his reply shock me!

7499!! :-O

It looked pretty awesome, but he wouldn't let me play around with it, so I didn't think too much of it and left. Then last night, met a friend who'd actually bought the unit, and wow! It was super!!

Anybody here have any experience (1st hand or otherwise) with Micromax cellphones??

The units on their website look (and sound) pretty good, so was planning to get one for my sister (guinea pig :ohyeah:)

no idea bout the product...but certainly looks good and specifications seem to be decent enuf as well for the price...

omg!...phone surely does look good...Theft Tracker/Remote Access and 3MP auto focus cam and a touchscreen too.....features and price like those of the chinese mobiles available.... did u check the UI ? how good was it with navigation and handling....warranty ? ....if u have 1yr of warranty ( assuming they have good service ) and you have extra money JUST to experiment....u can get it....

Lol! Just 3 Hours of talktime and that too with "conditions apply"!

It *is* a touch-screen thingy...they have other phones with better battery usage figures..

And my friend seemed to be okay with it - close to 2 hrs of talking, randomly playing around with it, etc lasts him a day. Would still recommend carrying charger along though :D

@hanzy:

Yup checked the phone out - very easy to use, touch-screen very responsive, and even though that chap'd been using it for about 10 days, the screen didn't have fingerprints on it...didn't ask him if he cleans screen though :P

UI was good too..a bit more sensitive than I was immediately confortable with, but nothing one can't get used to, I guess. Or maybe I just expect a slight lag in response due to conditioning by Symbian :D

A few days earlier Bigbazar here in Kolkata was giving a Nokia 1208 for free with a Micromax phone (X4i) for Rs. 7499/-

whoa checked the site and some 2 models they say talk time 17 hrs and standby time 30 days :bye1: if its really true i will buy it for touring purpose

^ lol wtf. what kind of battery is that.

maybe they are considering "stand by" time as "time phone is switched off" :P

To me the models look like cheap Chinese knock-offs..

Don't ask me why! :D

Well maybe not that cheap actually, but didn't like the looks thatmuch..
