Micromax A116 Canvas HD, the cheap 5-inch smartphone that went up for sale in India yesterday, managed to sell over 9,000 units in the first 24 hours of availability, the company has confirmed.
At the moment, the vendor is accepting pre-booking for the handset, and it seems that demand for it is growing, at least this what data from snapdeal shows, Fonearena reports.
The handset is available at Rs 13,990 ($260 / €190) at the moment, and it might be able to sell thousands more units in the coming weeks, when it reaches retailers around the country.
Although it sports a low price tag, A116 Canvas HD features a 5-inch IPS HD display (720 x 1280 pixels), a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 4GB of internal memory.
It also packs an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, while running under Google’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system right from the start.
