Indian manufacturer Micromax has been sued by Ericsson for patent infringement and claiming about Rs 100 crore in damages.
Swedish network equipment maker Ericsson has filed a lawsuit in Delhi High Court asking Rs 100 crore in damages and said that Micromax refused to enter a licensing agreement for using its several wireless technology standards such as GSM , EDGE and 3G.
Justice of the HC in an interim order has asked Micromax to pay between 1.25% and 2% of the handset sale price of disputed devices by depositing the amount with the court.
Commenting on the case, Micromax's spokesperson said, "Micromax is committed to negotiating a FRAND licence with Ericsson as has Ericsson undertaken to providing a FRAND licence to Micromax. Since the matter is pending before the honourable court, it would be incorrect for Micromax to make any further statements on the matter."
