Micron To Acquire Memory Chip Maker Elpida For $2.5 Billion
Micron Technology is set to acquire japanese chip maker Elpida Memory wich has gone bankrupt .
The deal is estimated to take place for 200 billion yen ( $ 2.5 billion ) according to Nikkei newspaper , out of which $1.76 will be used for paying Elipda's debts .
Micron will invest 100 billion yen in Elipda's production facilities in Hiroshima , after which its market share is expected to get doubled to around 24 percent . This will also help Micron to compete against industry leader Samsung .
