microphone problems

Dear techies,
im havin problems with my microphone....ders nothin wrong with it..but all options regarding microphone are disabled..i think the mic port at the back isnt workin....plzz help

Start>Control Panel> Sounds and Audio Devices
Check the Audio tab options > Sound recording > Default device.
The default device should be your sound driver audio input.
Select the proper one and click apply.

Hope it works!
 
The default device is my sound driver audio input. im sure iv checked evrything...ders no problem with the mic...intel DG 965Ry doesnt have another extra mic port..im sure ders a problem with the mic port..maybe a loose connection?wat do i do know?

Then I think you should test the mic input socket. May be the socket is wornout. Open the cabinet and check the socket. Did you check the same mic in other system? Problem may be in mic pin too.
 
You'll have to set the speaker configuration to stereo, AFAIK. The center/sub and mic jack are combined, so if you use 5.1 speakers you can't use the rear panel mic at all. You should be able to use the front input if your cabinet supports it and is wired correctly.
