Starting today at 6.00am PST, the world will hear about Windows Vistaâ„¢, the name for the next release of our Windows desktop operating system (aka Longhorn).
Vista? : Today, we live in a world of "more" -- more information, more ways to communicate, more things to do, more opportunities -- and at the same time, more responsibilities. Increasingly, we all turn to our PCs to help us with that. At the end of the day, what you’re after is a way to break through all the clutter to focus on what you want to focus on, what you need to do. What you're trying to get to is your own personal Vista -- whether that is trying to organize photos, or trying to find a file or trying to connect and collaborate with a number of people electronically.

That's the role that Windows has always played -- empowering people to use technology to do and accomplish what they want. But the world has evolved, and there's a lot more out there so we have to make some investments and make sure that we continue to play that role.

Wat abt windows "eXPedition" tat was coined sometime back?? wat was tat for? any idea!!
 
I wonder how Mirosoft got the rights for that name,heres some trivia why...

Vista ...also happens to be the name for an application for all three platforms (win32,linux,mac).

as well as another name called VistaScan Mac which is a antivirus software.

Then again ,they could have bought over the whole company,let alone the name :p
