Microsoft crticised for weakness in IE

That ‘targeted and sophisticated’ attack on Google customers in China via a weakness in Microsoft’s IE6 and which Google said targeted the e-mail accounts of human rights activists has had wider repercussions.

Apart from Google making noises about withdrawing from China, the German and French authorities - Germany's Federal Office for Information Security and Certa - issued warnings against IE and recommended users switch to Firefox or Google's Chrome.

Certa said: "Pending a patch from the publisher, Certa recommends using an alternative browser.”

National agencies recommend users don't use IE :: PublicTechnology.net :: e-Government & public sector IT news + job vacancies:

So now everyone should Shift to Opera,Firefox or Chrome until this flaw is fixed by microsoft

Re: Warning: Don't Use Internet Explorer

Okay. This is about IE 6 and people who still use IE 6 when IE 8 is available deserve to get pwned.

The point here being that I can point out quite a few bugs and risks. So instead of just bashing IE try to understand the problem.

IE fanboy, First of its kind:lol:

well, if you closely look at the image that I posted you will understand that my regular browser for internet is not exactly IE. but I dont advocate blind hatred towards IE or for that matter any software. I am just pissed off at the IE haters. btw did you read the article before replying?

you will agree with the first post only if you are not techie and dont understand what a vulnerability is that was exploited for attacking google. have a nice day :bye1:

Re: Warning: Don't Use Internet Explorer

only n00bs use IE now
i hate that cuttack cuttack sound made by IE
especially females use IE since they don't know anything except orkutting:P

Re: Warning: Don't Use Internet Explorer

As much as I'd praise Firefox, Opera and the likes...

I still use IE every now and then, for sites that don't render well or incompatible (read vintage sarkari sites) with other browsers.

Hell, we all (most) started on IE and then chose to move on to better things. ;)

Re: Warning: Don't Use Internet Explorer

Agreed that Microsoft has released an update to deal with the vulnaberity of IE(its KB978207)...but guess what this update itself has become an issue for most of the IE users...yes you heard it right after that update was installed most users lost their connectivity..(well not exactly lost the connectivity:P)...but IE refuses to pull up any webpage:no:...and if you uninstall the update:@...voila its back...

What i dont understand is why do they release such updates that affect their products itself....and its not just this update there was an update KB974455 which had caused a similar issue...

I do know that its these updates that Microsoft is living on and earning its most of the revenew (No updates==No system crashes==No calls to their Tech support)...

Re: Warning: Don't Use Internet Explorer

Well, IE is popular and will be for some more time as well. I have seen my friends using IE8 without even bothering to install any other browsers.

I remember there was a time when i used to use IE6 and the reason i moved to Firefox was that it loaded pages a little faster. But now with high speed broadbands all over, there is hardly any difference between the browsers.

I use Firefox since the last 3-4 years but still use IE in between for sites that are not displayed correctly. However, i never despised IE. I just use Firefox since i am used to it now. Else i dnt use any plugin or extras over the browser. I mean how many of us will be doing anything other than browsing - a select few. So, i guess even if there is a flaw, Microsoft will fix it as it always does. ;)

Re: Warning: Don't Use Internet Explorer

Whether one likes it or not, IE is integrated into the OS. I am still using XP (just lazy to upgrade ;)), so do not know if Win7 has put an end to it. So, IE Updates always need to be installed even though it's gathering lot of digital dust :(

I use Firefox and for those adamant IE only sites, use IETab extension (damn! no version for FF3.6 yet :().
