Microsoft has quietly relaxed the minimum requirements for Windows 8 based tablets which has opened up the way for smaller and cheaper 7 to 8 inch tablets running Windows 8.
Till now Windows 8 required tablets to have minimum screen resolution of 1366 x 768 because of which smaller and cheaper Windows 8 tablets were difficult to produce. Now Microsoft relaxed the requirement by adding the support of 1024 x 768 screen resolution to the hardware guidelines.
With smaller tablets like Google Nexus 7 and iPad Mini selling like hot cakes , Windows 8 based affordable and smaller tablets should be coming soon after the relaxed requirements , but those will start shipping probably after the Windows Blue update.
