Microsoft Will Roll Out Windows 8.1 Update On October 18

Microsoft had previously announced that the Windows 8.1 RTM update will be released to OEMs by the end of August. Now finally Microsoft has announced that the Windows 8.1 will be released to public on October 18th.



The update will be available for free to Windows 8 users through the Windows Store.

The Windows 8.1 update brings many improvements including return of Start Button, UI improvements, improvements in search, windows store, calendar, option to boot straight to desktop and many more.

Those who cannot wait for the update or eager to see the improvements can grab the Windows 8.1 preview.

I hope they roll out the $40 upgrade once again for Windows 8.1. I missed on that last time intentionally at it will come bundled with new laptops but now I doubt I would be buying a new laptop for a few years.
 
Thanks RoboGhost! Upgraded to 8.1 seems smooth as of now. No issues so far. I like feature to boot direct to desktop. I was using a third pary software previously.
 
Takes abit of time to get use to Windows 8 even though I find it glitchy at times when it freezes up or won't let you hit the back button to the previous screen. I do like the split screen option on it so that way I can see two things at the same time without clicking the tabs back and forth.
