Guys
Last sunday formatted my pc to windows XP pro.
it was as usual slow n crawling :P
then i got some itching in my hands and again formatted my pc yesterday eve (not satisfied with my xp pro) and i noticed that boot time is very less in home edition (my pc starts in 20 secs for usage) (xp pro took around 35 secs)
i wonder why is so much difference??
i think coding of XP pro & Home is the same with the same services on!! and then too RAM load is around 100mb less then Pro version :S

Regarding the gaming part:
Stutter in Most wanted gone!! (4XAA, 16xAF)
Carbon is smoother & more realistic :S (4XAA, 16xAF)
PC responsiveness improved a lot.... my computer starts to show up drives within 10 MS :hap2:
im so happy to install Windows XP Home edition and it rocks
it is 3x faster then the Pro version and i still wonder why
Gaming performance boost is around 20-30% and thats serious boost..

^^ it is prolly just cause u formatted. maybe there was something wrong with ur xp pro installation. xp pro = best for gaming performance.

no. i hav licenced copy of pro man.. it is not as fast as home edition dude and even after format xp pro is not faster then home edition

Both are same... Pro is faster when running benchmarks though. I run Home and Pro on 2 drives and there is no difference between the two. As stormy said, the format has made the difference.

are the services same in both home and pro? i doubt so... some security/network services etc will be disabled in home version i guess....not sure though

RiO pls check n let us know.. we wanna know why home edition is faster??

simple, less features, takes less memory, lesser no of background processes etc.

i dont think u understood what i said. the format made the difference. i dint say that the pro cd or installation was bad.

& as rio said & what i already said before. pro is faster than home for gaming & benchmarks.

Do us a favor run some benchmarks on both pro n home and post the screenshots here or else this debate will go on.

Anyways can anyone do the benchmarking for both Pro and Home??

else ill do it by this weekend by installing pro in other partition.

Ill post pics after some hours

lol i even installed last sunday win xp pro.. wasnt as fast as home edition. home edition x3 faster then pro.

I agree with him..... but not '3x faster', at least not for me, 1.25x faster :hap2:

But real nice is WinXP 64Bit Pro for real power usage.

faster or not being that aside.

What do you mean by x3 times faster??? You mean its 3 times faster than XP Pro?? Do you know how fast is that???

I mean the apps loading speed.. xp pro crawls on my system and xp home edition is a lot faster. i think i had bad cd of xp pro maybe :P

Cons of Home edition:
1. No multiprocessor support. No IIS. No Remote Desktop. No EFS. No MUI.
2. Less networking and security capabilities - no ACLs, no domain or network join support.
3. 5 simultaneous file-sharing conntections versus 10 in Professional.
4. Pro has a longer support lifespan. Mainline support for Home ends on January 1st, 2007.
Besides that, there are many advanced applications that don't support the Home edition.

There goes your "Home edition is better!!" statement.

BTW, why was my post deleted? I've nothing personal against anybody, but claiming Home edition as being 3-times faster than the Professional edition (on what ground?) in a general context, without backing the statement with solid proofs, is nothing but pure trolling - at least in my book.

@yamraj.
dude home edition has output speed of upto 3x faster then professional.. in terms of windows startup. home edition just takes 20 secs and pro takes more then 35 secs dude... and other aspects like double click on my computer which opens in 4-5 secs, while xp home opens in less then a second thats shocking. i must sau that home is faster then pro cause of reduced service. thats the only reason ive answered it myself. Yuvraj now you dont troll this thread and crap it.

Home is faster and it still is better. all the softwares which i used on XP pro works on Home till now  and yeah using P4-HT though hyper threading is supported (2 logical processors) ill use XP pro x64 once i get C2D as multi processor are not supported in XP Home. THanks for trolling Yamraj ;) anyways good replies everyone.

Ive already gone thru this things on google search while looking for diff between Pro & Home but couldnot find comparison benchmark.

Can anyone post performance benchmark??
