Friends, gonna buy a mid-end gaming cum office PC for my cousin

Max budget – 15k (w/o gfx card, monitor and PSU, keyb and mouse)

He prefers AMD platform

So here goes the config and your kind approval is required

AMD 955BE or 840 or phenom X2 555bE (which is best ? )

Asus M5A78LT-M LX or M4A88T M LE (will the LX do justice if proccy is 955be ?)

4 GB Ddr3 corsair RAM (1066 or 1333 ?)

500 GB Seagate

Zebronics cabinet (max budget 1.2k without PSU)

Lg dvd-rw

Please suggest a mid-end VFM gfx card (MAX 6k) (NV and ATI are welcome)

Monitor (2033sw) and PSU (coolermaster 460w) are already available

Will be getting the above in Richie street, Chennai. So will be helpful if suggestions for the shop and price are given…

The 780G mobo officially supports only 95w processor. So its better off to opt for a better mobo. If no OC and gaming then the SB i3 performs better than the 955BE and also consumes much lesser power.

CM 460w is a extreme power plus series PSU?

^ thanx mate. But what do you think if i go for intel intel DH67VR which retails for 4k with USB3. Isnt it a better idea. Though its slightly expensive, its worth for its premium features like USB 3... Your ideas ??

And the MSI 6670 isnt available with challenger and delta mate. Is it possible to source it from anywhere else ?. Both stock only XFX but i would rather stick on to the MSI one as you said. Any alternatives if this card is out of stock ??

Any 785 or 880G MOBO from ur fav company (I prefer MSI) .. must be around Rs 3500 Check here

A zebby bijli will do , Price around Rs 1100.. google it yourself :P

If you can find ATI HD 5770, for Rs 5000 get it, or get ATI HD 6770 Rs 6500-Rs 7000 Check here

A generic DVD RW for Rs 800 with a WD or Seagate HDD for 1700 should be fine

So total cost 21K With Graphics card (14K without)

Trust me dont get the HD 6670, you will regret not spending a couple more afterwards... Get the HD 6770.. it can play crysis 2 @ advanced settings comfortably :P
 
^^ Sire, generic SMPS is not something that OP should get, better is OP goes with a generic cabinet + FSP Saga II 400W ~ 1900/-, atleast his components will be insured against electrical maleficarum. Strictly my point of view.

OP can also go for a AMD Llano based set-up --

AMD A8-3850 ~ 6700/-
Gigabyte GA-A75-D2H ~ 6500/-
Corsair XMS3 1600 MHz 4GB x 1 ~ 1550/-
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB ~ 1850/-
OEM Samsung / LG DVD drive ~ 1000/-

if you want psu under 3k the get seasonic s12ii 430w or SilverStone Strider ST50F otherwise get cm gx450 3.3k/seasonic s12ii 520w 3.6k
