Storage Solutions Minor issue with seagate - st31000528as - is this a failure model ?

1tb is working fine for me...i bought it around 1 year back i guess....will check my firmware and update...

update: my 1tb hdd firmware is cc38

and 500gb hdd firmware is sd81

Seagate is absolute crap right now, their older drive were marvelous,i had their old 7200.4 80GB which worked flawsly for 6 yearsmthen i bought a 500GB and 1 TB,the 500GB got spoiled 2 times even after giving it for rma ,its got spoiled twice,i dont know wtf they are doing, and now my 1TB after only 1 year its started to make clinking sound which is very annoying and making the whole comp lagg,i seriously hate Seagate,im plaing to get wd now.

I had bought a 1TB ST31000528AS recently and I started facing problems within 10 days. It had a very high sector reallocation count and was having a weird problem with getting detected in BIOS. I RMA'ed the drive and I received the same drive. The lady at Accel said they 'repaired' the drive. I feel they might have just returned it as is or at the most changed my firmware from CC38 to CC46. Unfortunately my PC isn't so I have to wait a few more days until I can plug it in to check.

Ok so I was using this 'repaired' drive for 2 days. It still had some reallocated sectors when I got it.

Today while using it, there were some weird noises from the disk and now HD Tune shows Fail for reallocated sector count. :|

I'm gonna have to RMA it again now. :@
