So finally lapped the hell out of my E6600 :P

Used 3M sand paper.

320-400-600-800-1000-1200-2000 grit dry + wet.

No polishing done.

Here is the final result.

E6600 @ 3.24Ghz 1.44v

Temps with Ultra 120 extreme.

With WCG 100% load

With Orthos small fft 100% load

Holy Moly!!:O

It was like just yesterday and its already done and Ultra Extreme mounted too.:O

You are fast- got any polish paper to spare.:P

lol i didnt even start on E6600 yesterday, was practicing on Celeron D.

Today i removed the stock HSF, removed chip lapped it and mounted the Ultra 120 extreme in like 1 and half hours :P

^ Hmm that's damn decent since I'm still clocking 49 Idle with U-120, CPU at 3,2 1.35v.

What about warranty ? Is it totally gone ?

warranty is void if u lap the processor, there not are many cases of processors going for RMA so basically risk free :P

honestly its almost impossible to kill the processor under notmal overclocking and testing conditions.

And with current price drop the resale value of this processor by the time i decide to replace it will be peanuts.

So no risk.

:hap2: agreed...

never though I'd ever lap my HS but you are inspiring me to.....
After enabling CnQ on my desktop, the idle temps (on a a AMD winchester) are hovering close to 55C and I suppose that ain't anything good
