Firstly I'm bedridden since 6.5yrs so I'm angry often, specially if someone warns me uselessly then I reply with expletives.

Yesterday midnight I get a message from "linuxtechie"

Dear Udit,

You have received a warning at TechEnclave.

Reason:

Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 500 by 150 pixels or 50.0 KB (whichever is smaller).

my signature is 500 by 150 pixels & 42KB

stop giving useless warnings

he doesn't even know the rules & warns me?

we cannot upload a 50KB+ signature

TE is becoming a jail

Insult the jailer & get beat up to a pulp

he gave me a Infraction but I say what will a puny red dot do? go ahead ban me even then I'll be back as someone else

I'll be in fever of Udit as he's signature is made under consideration of TE rules.

There was nothing to worn against signature.. :no:

AFAIK, Giving Infraction and reporting post is not for any personal fights or something, but for abusive language HE CAN. So what can I say is, every Member should Respect the TE Staff as they've their own place on TE :)

Common guys, stop it here.. We're not gonna get anything with it :( Make TE a peaceful and happy community.. :yeah:

Udit You Might Be right ,But The Method You Explained Was Not I Mean Why Be Abusive ,I Suggest You Say Sorry To him for The Abuse ,And LT Should Take Care That As a Mod He Needs More Toleration Power ,Udit Mind It He Can Also Infract You For Using Abusive Language .
 
atleast you received a warning first, i got infractions straight away when i was in the process of uploading the signature, they didn't even wait till i was done.

And when you get infractions, another mod shripad thinks he gets full right to abuse anyone he wants & when report the same to other mods, they start defending him saying there should be peace on TE.

Usually when you report something to the mods, no action is being taken, instead they warn not to pm them.

anyways, threads like these are closed asap, because this is showing them the mirror & hence they do not feel free.
 
Ahh,

All I can say is as per rule book the size is 40Kb for which I had mine own share of bashing. So that's why a nicely toned warning message. Being a mod, as you can understand, its expected that the rules can not be twisted in anyone's favour. I am not allowed those powers.

^ It made confusion here.. In User CP -> Edit Signature, this is written Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 500 by 150 pixels or 50.0 KB (whichever is smaller).

So problem is we read this line every time we upload a new signature.

Considering the Rule Book this linuxtechie is right, he just done his job of warning the user. Now what staff can do is edit that Note in User CP..

PS - I'll have to check my siggy size :bleh:
 
Since there is discrepancy in the rule, it would have been better if LT would have contacted the system admin and get it corrected wherever applicable (rules page or user CP), instead of issuing warning to user.
 
I have one more query here... Now the dimensions and size limits are only if we upload siggy to TE server right ? But if i link from some external link a siggy bigger than allowed dimensions what is the problem ? Coz it still acts like a one like code withing limits of words to express siggy, aint this right ?
 
Its 50kb, the problem was the typo in the original rule set where figures for size of Only picture signature and picture + text signature swapped places.

Also keep in mind that you can use regular img tags in siggies as well and it does not have to be hosted on TE. So many users to go quiet a bit over size limit either because of lack of knowledge or simple ignorance of rules / rebel behaviour. So that is why we do check file size manually as well randomly. In this case the 50kb TE upload limit is useless.

Yes, we dont usually issue infraction for small violations but please try to stay within the limit.

Signature and Avatar are there to create some sort of unique identity for a person, not to fill the page with large flashy sigs.

And this particular restriction is in place for low bandwidth users. Most of us dont care if its 50kb or 500kb but there are others who can be adversely affected with page load times and BW usage thanks to pathetic broadband scene in our country.

@ Udit, the infraction was promptly reversed after we noticed the error in the infraction. There was no need to get abusive. You tend to do this a lot, and we do look away most of the times. But dont make a habit of it.

@malhortraraul : do you really want to go back there? Do you really want to let all people on TE publicly see your conversation with staff members and how immaturely you really acted and number of signature violations and other infractions you have received over time? You got infraction immediately because of your past track record back then as well. I suggest you move on.
