So , is it worth buying ? anyone buying it ? .. i was about to order but dont have paypal or CC .. .

How is this product useful, can anybody explain ???
I mean, i can do surfing on my PC, lappy then y would i want to do the same on my regular TV ???

Also what will be input devices, like mouse n kb for TV & how it will use Wifi ???

Is this device like Raspberry ???

it has built in wi-fi and 2.4ghz receiver for wireless keyboards and mouse .. one can also use flymouse ( Link ) which works both as keyboard and mouse ..

I bought MK802+ about 1 month back from in4dealz.com. product reached safely and in working condition. I did not have to pay customs. final damages were 54$. Their communication is good and they acknowledged my request of marking the package as a gift to avoid customs.
About MK802+,
1. It is just like an ICS android phone, without calling facility
2. You can connect 2.4 GHz wireless devices to it. I am using a Logitech wireless keyboard mouse without any problem. However, only mouse should also be fine as the on screen keyboard pops up in writable fields.
5. This device is mainly aimed at Full HD playback, games and internet
6. It reads USB hard disks
7. It gets warm. Does not fail though
8. works with Wifi on WPA-PSK protocol. However, if i try to connect it to my wifi on dhcp, it freezes up. The trick is to manually configure the IP. After that it works fine.
9. It does not have a heat sink
10. Out of the box, the default player does not play dolby digital and DTS audio formats (you get picture, but no sound) hence you have to download third party players from market. After that almost every format was playable. There is one catch though, I have read that the passed on audio is just 2 channel PCM. Cannot confirm this as dont have a HDMI audio reciever.
11. Runs Linux (without hardware acceleration at the moment)

Any more doubts then please shoot a PM

I guess this is better suited for people who have tvs with crappy software like the old Sony Bravias which have (had?) difficulty playing mkv and other such formats.

Can't see how useful it is otherwise.

And people like me, who have bought LCDs before 3 years which did not have usb ports. Other applications that i can think of
1. Portable computer
2. Portable HTPC
3. Kitchen PC
4. Low power torrent downloader
5. Touchscreen computer

Can linux be installed on this? Tablet market is getting lot of attention. So in 4k to 10k much better configs can be bought which can act as standalone device as well, can be used while traveling. So wont tablet be better than this? Power cons. would be higher for tablet though.

Yes Linux does work. You can have a double boot with linux on SD card and android on internal memory. Some flavours are Xbuntu, Kubuntu and fedora. Hardware accelration is not present on linux. rest works fine.
XBMC will stutter because it does not have hardware acceleration yet.

can it be used as a downloader after connecting a usb HDD and downloading the torrents using a torrent app??

but i feel it might be prone to failure after using it for prolonged hours for days together.

For some of the above posts asking if it can run XBMC and be used as torrent downloader, I think, Raspberry PI is a better choice at USD$35. Planning to get one and turn it into a standalone media player.

seems like a good deal.. i compared the prices online and 39$ is the best price.. there is also an ebay link (in4dealz) but they charge you a 4$ fee for shipping..

anyone from bangalore buying it? can you order one for me too? if possible? i can pay the money once the item reaches...!! pls pm if you're ordering in bulk.

Same question, if yes, then it's quite a good deal for 2k.

the second gen of these guys are more tempting and if you are going for this in a carputer , why not just put a tablet there?

I have already got a tablet for the same(VeeDee D13) + ND100S USB Dongle for Car GPS. I got this thing just to do experiments I will get a heart attack if the tablet dies in the experiment:bleh:

Worst case would be it will end up in my dad's bedroom TV or I will sell it off.

If the same were to be priced at 2k then it would have been even sweet.

anyway wanted to make a point that since it runs on android , it might not be able to recognise HDD's having NTFS partition.

Also i suppose it wont support files bigger than 4 gb to be downloaded.
