Mkv file gets stuck.. Help me!!!?

I have a movie file which is in .mkv format. It plays well in vlc media player. But the problem is I cannot fast forward or drag the movie to a particular position. When i try to fast forward, the whole screen gets stuck and finally the player crashes, running windows vista .....

This usually happens when there are conflicting codecs installed in your system.

Have you installed anything extra, like the Klite or any other Codec Pack.

Also mention your specs, if possible. Is it an HD movie by any chance?

P.S: Try checking if it works on M Player or Gom Player, most likely its only a codec issue.
