Mobile operating system

Hi Guys,

I would like to know what are the Advantages/Disadvantakes of "Mobile having an operating system" over a mobile which doesnt have an operating system...

Eg:Nokia 5800 XpressMusic(mobile with OS) over Samsung S8000 Jet(Mobile w/o OS)

Basically avantages of Mobile OS over the mobile's which dont have Mobile OS.
 
mobile with OS : more functionality..more features, usually a smart phone

mobile without OS : cheaper, hangs less, less complicated
