Mobile within 3.5k

Hey friends, It's time to change my 5yrs old Nokia 1110. So suggest me a mobile within 3.5k (I can stretch it a bit if I get sumthing really for the extra bucks / VFM).

Well....The features I'm looking at are :
1. GPRS (I need it most. I want to be always on). I'll love to use Opera Mini/Opera Mobile for browsing, so if the phone supports app's, it wud be gr8.
2. Music (3.5mm Jack wud be gr8 - optional) - Sound should be good and spakers must be louder.
3. Camera (Normal medium camera for just p&s clicking would be ok say 1.3/2MP wud be nice)
4. Memory Card support (Extendable upto 2GB wud be nice. If I get more that would be gr8).
5. 3G (Completely optional. No problem if I don't get it. I think nokia have a 3G phone within 4k)
6. Build should be well......as I won't be changing this for atleast next 1yr otherwise if I get job within one yr I change the it on the same day I get my salary :tongue:

Well.....anything else you wud like to suggest??

Actually saw someone using a Zen Z77 yesterday , very sturdy build and nice looks , just checked the price , apparently costs only 3299 , qwerty keypad , dual sim , has opera mini and nimbuzz preloaded , 3.5mm jack , 1.3 mp camera.

The 3G Nokia phone you are talking about is 2730 and costs 3990 /- . You can also see the 2700 for 3.6k , basically the 2730 without 3G .

If u want serious VFM , chk out the Nokia 2690 .. really ticks the points on some interesting features for <3.5 K.. Best part is expandable memory upto 8Gb (2700 supports upto 2GB ) but downer is VGA Cam. Has Bluetooth , 3.5 mm Jack.

Current MOP of 2700c is 3900 and 2730 is 4200 !

EDIT : @manu1991 , suprisingly i asked a week back from a Nokia Priority Dealer abt the price and quoted me the above stated ones.
But looking at ur place which too is New Delhi , m in a doubt about that dealer. Really good handsets at that price range which u r being quoted.

Everyone is suggesting 2700 and 2730, I must check them out. By listening to DarkAngel's confident words, I think the phone suffice my needs. If that is the case I'll want for a week to get some more bucks and go with the 3G version.

@DarkAngel's Well...Does this both of the phone support app's?? I saw one of my friend is using something like goolel(which is a mobile app of Gtalk). I would like to use these types of app's then.

Those are prices without VAT. +4%/5% VAT. its 5% VAT from April 1, right? The Nokia 2700c is Rs.2729 from themobilestore.

The The MobileStore - Best Mobile Phone Deals, Buy Mobile Phones, Cell Phone Accessories, Offers, Tips site has VAT included prices and in most cases a few bucks cheaper than univercell. They are popular chain stores down here in South. Dunno about North india though.

They are S40 phones. Not much idea about the apps. But if you are SMS junkie then make sure you try the Nokia 2700c and Nokia 2730c in person. Coz the keypad seems a little hard. Avoid little known brands.

Yup, Actually I forgot to mention in my first post that my first preference is Nokia, Though I don't have any problems with other brands like Samsung, Motorola etc.. But as you said with lesser known brands I would think a littile. Coz I want sumthing future proof and which will last many years as my Nokia 1110 is working awesome even now which I bought in 2005 after passing my 10th board xm.

And you are right I'm an sms junkie...!! I need to handle 5girls (and friends optional) at a time within 11PM to 1AM. :bleh: Pure din ki baat to **** hi do :tongue:

I checked out both the phones and loved the 2730. I would like to go with it. It's within my budget and speciallu it suffice all my needs.

Can I install themes from zedge in this phone?? Well there are no music/side keys. Altough I don't need that. A normal music player is more than enough to me.

Now a idiotic ques.....Places to look at to buy this phone??

1. Mobilestore?? I've heard they charge more than local shops

2. Local Shops??

3. Nokia Priority House??

3. Online??

I think I should get quotes from each and then decide. What say??

If online is not possible check out the local stores. Go on a price hunt.;) But mostly prices would differ about ~Rs.50-200 from store to store for a 4k phone.

If you have a ICICI card , then definitely buy from ebay , you'll get 20% on any phone , this way you can buy any phone for 4.5-5k , you can get the Samsung Metro 3310 for 3.9k , excellent phone @ that price .

If you sms a lot then you might want to take a look at the Mircomax Q series mobiles as they have a qwerty keypad and the features you want in your price range.

you mean a credit card? is it applicable on a debit card as well?

^^ Works on credit and debit cards and even on netbanking , valid only for first transactions so you'll have to create a new account . Code is ICICIEBAY5
