HI,

my rig:

i7 2600k

gigabyte z68xp-ud3

corsair 16gb 1600mhz (1X4gb)

seasonic s12ii-620 watts

OS: Lion (hachintosh)

Cabinet: Corsair 400r

GPU: gigabyte GTX 560 ti

the cabinet has 3 fans in it. 1 at rear for hot air vent and 2 in front for cold air supply to the inside of the cabinet. +1 cpu fan

so total 4 fans have to be running (besides the psu and graphics card fan which are hooked seperately.)

So I have put the cpu fan at the cpu fan socket on mobo

rear fan at fan1 socket on mobo

front 2 fans on fan 2 and power fan socket.

is this correct arrangement.. whats this power fan socket for?

please suggest

that is for power supply unit aka psu or smps

i see. can you explain me a bit about it? how does this link to PSU and whats the benefit?

besides, if i have 3 fans - 2 in front and 1 at back.. how to make them all work with just fan1 and fan2 ports. If i will use power fan socket with psu?

thanks..

the power fan socket were for very old psus' that came with the external fan connector which the motherboard could control.. such psus' were discontinued long ago.. i dont know why gigabyte still puts such connectors on modern mobos???

Just use the power fan connector as any other fan connector.. it will not make a difference.. however in hwmonitor or speedfan it may show up as pwr_fan instead of chassis fan.. but who cares about that as long as the fan works

Sire, I had requested you for the shop where you had purchased the Seasonic unit from in Delhi. Can you tell me its name and whether it had other Seasonic units in stock?

i went to SMC international. They do not sell it.. Ask for Deepak there. Request him to get you one. There is 1 dealer in Nehru Place.. you can buy from his website: http://ratetorate.in/brands/SEASONIC

they are Nehru place based but sell online.. (i did not buy from them though.)

also, try http://www.intelserverbuilder.com/

guys.. my i7 2600k touches 60 degrees easily.. what to do?

i am using stock cpu cooler which comes with the proc..

is this normal? Delhi is hot these days.. outside temp reaching around 40

or have i not placed the cpu fan properly.. ??? i also did not use any paste.. just the one which was pre applied on the cpu fan heatsink..

Cpu temp. 60 degrees are good but it is better to down under 50 degree. You may use thermal paste to down the CPU temp.

go to the address and download realtemp and see what is it saying. It will show you both temp. with natural load CPU temp. and with full load CPU temp.

I recommend that you do so, reseat the stock heat-sink after removing the old Thermal paste [use after shave OR alcohol for this], get a decent paster along the lines of the --
