hey guys
i have a KOB 132 cabinet with 300W PSU of mercury.
it has so far only a single 80mm fan for exhaust at the back .
the temps at load are about 60-62C
at idle temps 57C
i have AMD athlon 2600+
now as u can see in the picture in the encircled region this fan has the grill for connecting a 80mm fan(when seen from inside after opening side panel)
how do i remove this blue thing as it has ON/OFF switch in it.
has anybody done it plz let me know.
i am also planning to add a 80 mm fan right next to the proccy on the side panel.

According to ur post this is what i am assuming.
Currently ur Cabby has only a space for 80mm Exaust.
Thats it.

Now most of the ppl here when they talk about front intake fans there cabbies
already have space for connecting the front intake fan they dont mod anything .
Dont cut anything , for eg ur encircled area.
Also there is a attachment that can help you attach a 120mm Fan for ur 80mm exaust.

You can get a metal sheet of the size of ur side panel and first try on it.
You can have Side Panel Fans , go for 120MM Fans
1 for intake & 1 for exit.
But dont try anything directly on the Cabbies Orignal side panel as you might screw it.

Well sunny can guide you better tha nme on this.
Sunny you re needed here , bro where are you.

Hmmm....well modgod will reply soon i guess;) ..currently busy modding his own WC :)

but i did a same thng to my grabit, ....there were slots for USB in the front which i dont use daily....so i removed them , cut open the inside nd the thing which used to hide those usb slots nd put a fan on frm the inside......
dnt hav a cam, or wud hav posted a pic :(

but ur looks like the power button is gonna make thngs difficult for u............
dnt think u hav much of a chance

you wont have to mod it. Most of the time, with cabbies which provide a place for a front fan, the front bezel plate will have some sort of gap to allow air to be sucked in. Like my generic cabby has a large hole at the bottom of the front bezel as well as perforations at the lower front of the plate.

so what i should do is just cut a hole in the side panel and fit a 80 mm fan in it for exhaust.
what about intake fan then.there maybe a kind of mismatch between air going in and coming out which might increase the temp instead of decreasing .
do i have to cut two 80mm circular holes on the side panel.one for exhaust and one for intake.
i think this is the only viable option.this way there might be some circulation also.
as of now i think removing the front cover and usb ports would not be possible bcoz i cant figure out what to do with on/off button

well after reading Grease Monk's post i checked lower part of my cabby.
it does have a opening at the bottom .
it is a viable option then to plug in a 80mm fan at the front also for intake.
my main concern is that will this fan be able to suck in enough air just becoz of small opening.
somebody plz tell about this one should i attach a fan at the front also

will post a pic of the same if needed

this is the picture

Here's my current front panel :

was like this before :

made the buttons and LEDs fit into a 5.25 bay plate. Used custom switched and LEDs (stock switch sucked...wud get stuck many times )
i cut off the HDD bays and the space for 2x80mm fans ( will post pics later ) to make room for a large 120mm fan...

but went for watercooling now, so that space is reserved for the reservoir now ;)
