Modem + Router Combo for MTNL Mumbai

Hi friends,

This is on behalf of my friend who is using MTNL Broadband and want to buy combo of modem + router.

Budget is around 1~1.5k

Area to be covered is 2BHk (1000 Sq. ft)

Short Listed Combos are as follows :

1. Tplink W8968
2. TPlink W8961
3. Tplink W8960 (New in Market)
4. Dlink 2750U
5. Tplink W8901

Usage will be mainly for browsing over phone and laptops.

Experts and exisiting users please comment over it to make choice easier.

8968 is a strict no. They are scamming people outright with claims of 2 x 5 dBi antenna, while not providing the same.

D Link 2750U i can vouch for, since a friend started using it recently with Failtel ADSL Bband and is quite happy.
A non techie by nature, he was able to set up and get the modem router to work in no time. No complaints.


8960 actually looks promising. Amazon India has it for lightening deal and description specifically reads:
TP-LINK TD-W8960N Wireless N300 ADSL2+ Modem Router
2.4Ghz, 300Mbps, 802.11b/g/n, Splitter, 2x 5dBi detachable antennas

Maybe this is the new 8968 afterall.
