Hi enclavers,

I need to get a good 1920X1200 for my dad. This is mostly for publishing (lots of Adobe Photoshop and Page Maker) absolutely no movies or games.

Is Dell U2412 the only option since i find the 20k too steep.

Please suggest any alternatives.

Guys please help.

Are you locked at the 1920 x 1200 resolution factor OR can you compromise and go for the

Dell U2311H OR U2312M ~14500/-.

Apart from this there is a 23" monitor from ASUS but the after sales service by Rashi Peripherals is a deterrent.

Here is the model PA238Q ~17500/- [not sure about the pricing, can you inquire] http://in.asus.com/Display/LCD_Monitors/PA238Q/

Hope this helps, Cheers!!

Problem is with the resolution.

I do not want a wide screen because it has its set of drawbacks when it comes to DTP and Graphics editing.

Unfortunately, i am in no position to afford the costly and the usually recommended ones. In a quandry now

1920x1200 is 16:10 , due to the popularisation of 16:9 nowadays monitors come in 16: 9 ratio.( only monitors that are aimed at designers come in 16:10.

If you don't want to spend much , I suggest you go to used market, ( if you don't mind using used monitor) as about 2 years back 16:10 was the common ratio that monitors came in.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Guess the resolution is becoming a limiting factor and hence i'm not spoilt for choice.

I am going for the Dell U2412M and compensate for the excess else where since i believe that the Monitor and the Motherboard are the most important in a computer build - everything can be upgraded over its useful life.

Thanks for the help. Also, i found the below to websites very detailed when it comes to monitors.

How about trying HP ZR24w its a good monitor with a IPS panel should come for around 17,000 or

I would personally suggest go for the Dell U2412m. Try buying from dell directly you should get it for 18,000 that is what I paid for the very same monitor. Trust me the monitor is amazing..

PSU is the most important part of a system. dont compromise too much on it just because you spent a lot on your lcd.

Get it from Dell directly. Last i checked (almost a couple of months back), Dell gave me a quote of Rs. 17,720 for the U2412HM. Dell ensures the safe delivery of your monitor unlike other dealers where there is always the risk of damage during transit.
