More bad news for Sony/ps3: Cancelled games, Devs holding off development

Seems like there is nothing but bad press most of the times for sony and ps3.

Some good titles that have been cancelled for the ps3.

Atari CEO: No PS3 games before 2007

In an interview with Gamesindustry.biz, Atari CEO Bruno Bonnell confirms that there will not be any Atari PlayStation 3 games before 2007. However, Bonnell assures us that the publisher will be there for the Wii and 360 this year.

Perhaps because Atari is in a bit of financial trouble, Bonnell wants to wait to see if the PS3 will actually be a platform worth developing for.

SNK to wait until 2009 to develop for PS3

According to Yoshihito Koyama, overseas marketing manager of SNK (King of Fighters, Fatal Fury, Metal Slug), is hesitant to support the PlayStation 3 from day one. Koyama gives his perspective to Kotaku's Brian Ashcraft:

"My first impression is that it's expensive. The PlayStation 2 is good enough. It's small and cheap. For us, for manufacturers, we have to invest in a new system, and the PlayStation 3 is a risk. There won't be enough consoles at launch. Few consoles mean few software sales. We need to wait three or four years. Maybe 2009-2010 is a good time to release a game for the PS3."

Well whatever the reasons, the ps3 game library might suffer due to this........

Brown also commented that he believes the Wii's place as second to PS3 or 360 will be good for Nintendo. He went on to elaborate, "The funny thing is, some people say that discursively, like it's some sort of dig at Nintendo - and what they don't get is that if you're second on everybody's system, you're first overall."

But what about his comment regarding 40 / 40 / 20? It seems EA may be focusing more on Xbox 360 and Wii, than PS3, at least at this stage.

Considering the fact that PS3 and Wii will launch around the same time, this is very interesting indeed. Read into that what you will.

Wow, this sounds trouble for Sony. Hopefuly they know what they're heading for and can pull themselves out of this.

Though one thing is for certain, Nintendo Wii will sell way more than Ps3 this year.
 
that and most devs are stepping up support for wii on the double !! ubisoft announced 7 wii launch titles ! Some of them will be ports but still 7 is quite a number.......
 
Sad at smackdown'07 and Double Agent not being there for the ps3,whereas for the other titles..I didn't know they existed :p .

Hoping for a miracle tht ps3 will reign supreme.
 
I was'nt aware so many multi-platform titles were being cancelled.

Also all this Wii hype is unwarranted. Even the GC looked really strong when it first came out. The problem with Nintendo is that they can never keep up the momentum.
 
Some bad news and some good news.

2 more ps3 titles from FROM software cancelled.

According to Gameworld Network, the latest issue of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has the scoop that two more PlayStation 3 titles have been put to rest. Both from FROM Software, Dark RPG and Black Blade have been tossed in ye olde PS3 trash can -- which seems to be getting full at the moment.

While we haven't heard much about these titles to begin with, they were announced last year at the Tokyo Games Show as PS3 offerings that were planned for release.

Good news is FEAR isnt cancelled for the ps3.
 
Ps3 still has MGS4, Getaway and Gran Turismo.

Until and unless Ps3 loses the exclusive to those titles (specialy MGS4), it still has its big share in the market imo.
