more storage with sony erricson w300i

hey friends,
i hav a w300i fone with an inbuilt memory of 20mb (hardly nething). i dont have a memory card (will buy it some time later).
With 20 mb i can barely store 2-3 songs at a time. So is there a software available, so that the songs can be compressed much more so that i can store more music?
I have heard of media monkey and .ogg format which works on symbian fones which reduces the size of each song to less than 1 mb w/o compromisin on the quality (but it works only on symbian fones).

Hence, is there a way to reduce the size of the songs (more compression), provided the format shud be compatible with w300i?

You can try encoding the mp3's in m4a(aac) format using iTunes .... could get about 7-8 songs @ 48kbps ... you can even try lower bitrate but then the quality drop will be much more evident.

yup... aac is ur best bet, and the quality drop at lower bitrate isnt as bad as mp3 either.

instead of conversion hassle.. get a memory card.. that will be more relaxing. 20 mb is barely minimum it will get used up for contacts, sms pics u take.. so its highly recommended to get a memory card.

Yeah the W300i uses the M2 which is darn expensive. But last I heard, a 256 MB M2 card was included in the base package. How come you didn't get it?
