Nope haven't heard about the Moserbaer platinum stuff before. Here's some talks on the type: http://club.myce.com/f33/moserbaer-india-smartburn-limit-48x-54256/

  • Scratch free disc
  • 200 yeas archival
  • Unique patented coating
  • Videographers and Audio libraries
  • Media houses/ Entertainment companies
  • Storing important projects, music and movie files
  • These discs are a useful resource for all institutions where data needs to be stored for archiving

The second point seems too far fetched. Never had a good experience with the normal DVD-Rs and I won't be alive to sue them for sure :P ...but yes, even 10-15 years would be nice for those photos

those discussions are for the cds , i was looking for reviews on the DVDs , was thinking of picking up a 50 pack spindle, they were selling at 30 a pop, 900-950 for the box, was wondering if i could get them cheaper.

Get those national dvds man.
They too are made by moser baer.
Why do you think that national dvds have upped their prices among single and dual layer dvds where all branded ones still sell at the same price point.
Because the demand is higher for the national ones and the quality is same as the moser baer ones except the brand labelling.

i need dvds that CANNOT go bad, these re non recoverable stuff, photos , videos and the likes, cant use stuff like national and all, need the most reliable dvds to archive and hence the topic

Then better opt for the verbatim from mediahome.
AFAI had my share of experience with nationals from 2006, not a single dvd has gone bad.
For data that precious better store them in jewel cases.
