Hi guys,
Im buying a new motherboard and stuck at 2 choices

1) Asrock 939 Dual SATA 2

2) Biostar TForce 939 Motherboard

Looking for good overclocks with the 3000+ im gonna buy :)

Raghu.

Where are you getting the Tforce?

There is no competition....the TForce is way better :hap2:

Even the 6100-MP would be better then the asrock I guess. Especially if you flash it with the TForce bios.

Yes zhopudey..its the 6100-m9 im gonna get and flash..But wanted to get some more reasons here. The Asrock is significantly cheaper, by about Rs700. And i can always retain my TNT2 with the AGP slot :D lol Better graphics on the Biostar makes it even more inviting

The asrock seems to have better audio and is ATX. It also has more SATA slots.....What are the max. clocks on the 2 boards? The Asrock seems more popular though.

Its now a 75:25, leaning towards the Biostar. Any more reasons?

Raghu.

Definitely Biostar. If u dont intend on using an AGP card no point going for the Asrock. U can flash the M9 with the Tforce bios and yes the integrated gfx will be waay better than the TNT2. Arent 4 SATA slots enough for u?

Raghu the die-hard Biostar advocate deciding against a Biostar?! :O Hehe j/k

Deejay maxed out the Asrock board at around ~ 300Mhz FSB IIRC. The TForce will definately do much higher, I recall seeing a guy overclocking the board way past the 2000Mhz HTT speed as well and not losing stability which is good.. considering the first thing most of us have to do is drop the HTT Multiplier.

A couple more points:

- When have people actually used ALL their PCI slots in a full ATX board ? If you think you'll be adding many more PCI cards, then consider the ATX sized board. Same holds true for SATA ports - 4 should be plenty enough.

- Onboard sound is onboard sound, I dont think there should be much of a contest between the two. (though dont flame me, I havent checked what audio devices the two are using)

- The onboard graphics on the Biostar are definately way better than a TNT2, but does the board overclock well when using the onboard graphics? (am asking, cause you should know this better)

@ Crazy_Eddy ,
Asrock reached 325 mhz......@ 320 mhz it was pretty stable ...could surf , run super pi 1, 2, 8 M etc...

@ 300mhz i ran it 1:1 (Cpu:Mem) ....for 2 days without any issues.

and believe it or not it booted @ 390 HTT, used 6x cpu multipler ...

Biostar m/b i have not been able to obtain so far hence cannot comment.....

I would still say the biostar, regardless of how the Asrock OC's. Because of the graphics. U'll have to spend at least 2k to get a decent PCIE or AGP gfx card. Seriously that TNT2 is way too old now. At least u can play games at the lowest settings with the biostar.

I an not suggesting that asrock is better than biostar and vice versa. i am only posting facts that i have actually experienced. it is upto the users to decide which one is more suitable for his / her needs. personally my favourite VFM m/b for stability and mild overclocking is still the foxconn nf4x chipset based m/b.

ps: apparently 2 original biostar 6100 m/b's (with UV sockets et al) were snapped up by 2 esteemed members of TE. lets wait for their opinions / experiences.:D

Im not looking for graphics....I can play solitaire with the highest settings now and im really happy with my TNT2 :p

And eddy, the Asrock has 8 channel audio using the realtek 850 codec, while the Biostar has 6 channel. I have been a keen advocate of the Biostar because the Asrock was not in stock then.

And btw, Anish called up just now and told me the 2 "lucky" TE members who got the original TForce....Damn you funky :D Lol. Anish will also be giving me the contact details of the importer. So i should be able to get the TForce if necessary.

If someone can tell me the maximum clocks on both the boards then it wil be very helpful. I will also do a review of the board once i have it. Thanks :)

Raghu.

Both the "Alleged" TE members had told / requested me not to disclose their identity until they get the m/b and post their opinions:huh: I was just obeying them and respecting their privacy ;) :ohyeah:

May be helpful raghu but top notch was having something cooking about a biostar disti last I knew...;) might be worth checking it out....PS don't use my name... U WON'T get a discount now :P

Is the Biostar Tforce 6100 available at lamington road (Mumbai) ? I wanted to get the MSI K8NGM2 -FID but it's not available. :(

Sorry guys.. Looks like all Biostar boards are sold out..

Only 1 has reached which is on the way to you know where :bleh:...
