CPU/Mobo Motherboard Help

Hello mates,

i am planning on building a rig to do justice to my 2408WFP:hap2:

A few points -

no OC, not at all
Purpose - Gaming(some times - say 3 or 4 times a month)/Music/Movies/24/7 download

a few things already decided -
CM690
Corsair VX450/CM Extreme 600
E7200
MSI 8800GT
Logitech Cordless Desktop MX5000 or MX5500-Any suggestions??
So, the big question - what board should i go for? Budget - 5 to 6K
Should i go for an intel orignal board? Which one?
Or Abit? Btw, what's with the IP35P? And i also saw IP35V on Abit's site

I require the board to support the E7200 and please i don't want to update the bios. the board should be stable and last for a few yrs to come :p

To make things more difficult, i can wait for 2 or 3 months - would the new chipsets be available in India by then? Is it worth the wait?Say, the G45 or P45 and more...would they fall within 6K?

Firstly- if you are not planning on gaming much why are you investing in a 8800GT? :)

Forget buying a 'future proof' motherboard, Intel will launch the nw Nehalems in about 6 months, and they will be on a new socket :( .

There wont be too much difference between the P35 and P45 boards, only some incremental updates. If you can wait till maybe end of July you should be able to get budget P45/G45 boards in the 6-7k range.

If you are going to buy immediately you could buy the Biostar TP35D2-A7 (4.5k) or MSI P35 Neo (~5.5k) or Abit IP35-E (5.5k). Biostar should be fine because you dont plan on overclocking anyway.

Corsair VX450/CM Extreme 600

Get the Corsair VX450

MSI 8800GT

hold on to your money for sometime the ati HD 4850 is gonna sell for $199 and it will be about 30% faster than the 8800GT.

Just add in a few more k's if you can and try to get theE8200 cause of the extra cache, else the E7200 should serve you well.

fangface has answered your queries for the board

No need of an 8800GT.....If you game only 4 times a month invest in a 9600GSO. Also you might wanna get an E6850 as it has a frequency of 3GHZ as your not gonna OC.

You cannot decide on a gfx card for gamin on the basic of frequency of use.

Many of us work.study and don't have enuf time for gaming for 7 days a week does that mean we go for a lower end card ?

If u have the budget for a 8800GT / HD 4850 get it I say .. you can stil game for 4 days a week for the next 1.5 - 2 year (considering the 8600GT is holding up pretty well against modern games these cards should do well for the duration).

thanks everyone.

here is what i've decided -

VX450 it is!

8800GT is the least, if budget permits i might look at more options

i was thinking about the Intel DQ35JO mobo, but i could not find any good reviews + the micro atx size

i think i would wait for the G45 board as it would have the safety on onboard graphics if the graphic card goes kaput.

one thing is still missing -

Logitech Cordless Desktop MX5000 or MX5500-Any suggestions??

thanks again fangface, Ya man, the MX5500 looks damn cool.

due to the placement nature of my rig i know it won't be possible to use a wired mouse, so i guess i'll stick to the MX5500 and wait for sometime to come. Maybe, just maybe the prices would come down too :)

Since you say you have NO INTENTION OF OVERCLOCKING I would suggest that you go in for an Intel original motherboard as they are definitely the most stable and reliable motherboards for Intel cpus. There is no point in waiting for the P45/G45 chipsets as you will not need the GMA X4500 HD which is the only exciting new piece of technology. That aside the 4-series mobos will be barey any different from the 3-series ones.

The Intel DP35DP is available for Rs. 5750 and the DG33FB for Rs. 5200. TheITWares - Motherboard's

Also since you dont want to overclock, I would suggest you go in for a higher clocked processor, maybe E8400 or so.
