CPU/Mobo Motherboard + RAM For C2D E8400

GA-P35C-DS3R has two memory controller's . Most of the motherboards with 2 NB controllers dont perform well . This is the reason why most boards with support for DDR2 N DDR3 arent doin well , like the Asus P5KC .

Dont buy this board to be future proof just b'coz it supports DDR3 . Its not a gud performer .

The highest this board can do is 450fsb ,whereas ur chip can do a bit more than that .

Planning to get E8400 C2D.

GA-P35C-DS3R - is my choice.

It has DDR3 *2 / DDR2 *4 compatibility. :cool2:

The aBit IP35-E and the IP35-Pro are better than the GB GA-P35C-DS3R in terms of performance, VFM, overclocking features, stability n so on.

Suggest X38 chipset based motherboard for the above configuration.

Is worth to go for X38 ?

Is it compatible to C@D E8400 & above ?

Well, as of now an X38 motherboard is an overkill considering that most P35 motherboards offer the same perfromance and that the former has its advantages for:

1. PCI Express 2.0 capability, something that isn't needed as of now and won't be for a few months; and after all, the additional bandwidth of 2.0 isn't quite justified!

2. More PCI Express lanes from the chipset. This means that you get 2, not only 1, PCI Express slot running at 16X+ and more additional PCI Express slots running at 1x or 4x, more than on the P35.

So IMO its better u stick with a good P35 board.

And yes, all the P35/X38 chipsets supports the 45nm proccys. :)

Abit IP35 PRO will be good one....u have one good deal for that currently going on in the market.....CORSAIR XMS2 DDR2 twins 2GB shud be a good choice
