Sorry for cross posting but its an urgency

Normal working computer shutdown in afternoon wont boot at all in the evening, power supply is fine & light on the mobo is glowing so I tried the following.
1. Assuming the switch may be faulty I shorted the 2pins on mobo but that does not boot

2. took all the power cords cleaned them but no booting

3. assuming the hdd is dead I changed to my backup boot disk still no booting

4 PSU voltage might be problem but I dont have multimeter (will this not let me boot?)
Basically mobo is getting power but not booting I need to replace /repair the mobo urgently as I am in mid of a job & have to complete it somehow.
I will take the desktop to nehru place tomorrow for mobo repair (suggest me a shop or a technician)

If mobo cant be repaired tomorrow itself here are my option
1. Buy some cheaper standby mobo (computer spec in below signature)which is compatible with existing hardware.

2. Buy a good mobo which can work with this computer till next few years as I plan to change it & give this to kids.
Kindly suggest me a mobo for existing hardware,I have only few hours to decide on this.

Asus

Intel

Gigabyte

any other brand which is good.
If I have to change the mobo my guess is that it will need to format windows & need reinstall...am I correct?

mobo never failed so I have no experience about this, it means that I have to hook my hdd as slave to another computer & take all the data backup of C partition before formatting.

The exactly same thing happened with my DH67BL, I used other PC for two days thinking that I would have to RMA it, but on third day it started suddenly and is working flawlessly till now, I think it was the problem with overheating of some part of motherboard

Get all the parts of the system checked. Seems to be a mobo issue.

You can buy the Gigabyte G41 based mobo as a stand by replacement.

Depends? try to get a mobo, with as many as same component as your older one, for example, same chipset, audio, lan etc.

Now to add my experience: on windows 7 machine, I used Inter G31 -> Gigabyte G41 -> Gigabyte P45 mother board and did not need to reinstall; It all went well. There were some difference in boards but Windows re-configure itself and is working fine for more than a year.

But still I suggest; try to buy same or as close as possible chipset. I think you should be fine.

you will have to reinstall the os only if you are changing both proccy and mobo. For example if you are going to switch from amd to intel or vice versa. In your case, you can go for an intel chipset only so no need of reinstall....

Thanks guys I am up & running with new power supply Coolermaster GX 450

GX 450W - Cooler Master

The older PSU seems to develop some voltage problem need to look into it later when I am free.

Thank God I didn't had to reinstall thats a nightmare due to lot of customization I have done.
