CPU/Mobo Motherboard Suggestion for AMD Athlon II X2 250

Neo-N

Guide
Need MOBO suggestions for an AMD Athlon II X2 250

Requirements:

Should support AM3 Processors.

Should Support DDR2 RAM (NOT DDR3).

Should be based on AMD Chipset (NOT nVidia).

Price:

Cheapest Solution with the above conditions fulfilled. Preferably Gigabyte. :ashamed:

A friend already has a Athlon II X2 250 Proccy & 2GB DDR2 800MHz RAM. Needs a decent mobo.
:)

I was looking at the Gigabyte GA-MA74GMT-S2 but it supports DDR3 Memory. :(

Thanx.

why dont you opt for asus m2n68-am-plus ?. Dont know in what way you are dissasatisfied with nvidia... I am having the same proccy, 2gb ram and this board and my pc is blazing fast.... The price is also cheap..

This Mobo is for a friend & he insists that the Mobo be based on an AMD Chip & not on a nVidia Chip....

:(

AM3 support, DDR2 and AMD chipset?
Please check if this is available-
ASUS M4A785D-M PRO ASUSTeK Computer Inc.
GA-MA785GM-US2H (rev. 3.3) is a board to look out for, try convincing your friend to invest in a DDR III system right now as upgrade curve will be cheaper later ( spare DDR III RAM for free ). Most people on TE recommend Gigabyte over ASUS cause of RMA issues with ASUS, but yo can buy any companies board at your discretion ( personally I have an ASUS M4A785TD V EVO, rock solid performance and stable ) if your friend does not agree to the DDR III advantage then only go in for either of these boards as it is not worth going for DDR II currently even if you have spare sticks preferentially dispose of them/ sell them etc. and build a system based on DDR III only my opinion :) hope this helped

I agree.... Even I suggested him to opt for a DDR3 based board. The Gigabyte GA-MA74GMT-S2 seems perfect to me.

But he recently purchased 1GB X 2 Kingston DDR2 800MHz RAM Sticks & now doesn't want to reinvest in DDR3 RAM..... :@

BTW, any Idea how much the above RAM sticks can fetch him?? They are ~ 5 Months old..... :ashamed:

Thanx for the suggestion, will definitely talk with him about it again..... :)

Thanx virus32win & DarkAngel..... Let's see what he has to say.....

If he agrees, the RAM sticks would be in the Market soon.....

:)
