Motorola announces new Moto G with 5-inch HD display
inShare0

After a number of leaks and rumours, Motorola’s new Moto G smartphone is official. Unveiled on Friday at a press event in New Delhi, the smartphone will be released in select markets starting today.
Despite being a successor to Motorola’s Moto G, the new smartphone will also be called Moto G, as was seen in the leaked retail box earlier.
New Moto G sports a 5-inch 720p HD IPS display and is powered by 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor. The phone also comes with 1GB of RAM, 8 or 16GB of internal storage and microSD card slot. On the imaging front, Motorola has included an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and 2MP front shooter on the phone.
In addition, the smartphone packs Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and a 2100 mAh battery.

Pricing and availability

New Moto G will retail for $179 in the US and goes on sale immediately.
India Launch: For those of wondering about the India release of the phone, it will be available at e-retailer Flipkart.

+1 for front speaker, but they could have tried side speakers too. TBH, don't think there's good enough reasons for upgrading the Gen 2 from Gen 1. At least the RAM could have been increased to 2 GB. This was more of an upgraded Moto G LTE.

So the improvement over last year is front facing speaker and microsd slot which is welcome. 5 inch 720p means less heating and better battery life along with good enough legibility.

Will have to wait and see how good the camera is. Lots of scope for improvement over last year. They should have offered more RAM as an option.

if its priced right it will be the biggest seller of 2014 in india
yeah, samsung has dropped the ball with its entry level this year by offering , get this... downsized models of last years models. less ram & storage with crappier screens. Lost their way just like Nokia.

asus is the only other viable competitor but it can't beat the 3rd party support that moto has attracted. no other entry level device has a stable CM.

They had to spoil it with that crappy front speaker.
Last years models had insanely loud speakers. If you need to take a call in a noisy environment fidelity isn't the most important.

No GPS!!! Are you sure?

I checked in Flipkart which says that there is AGPS available
sorry my mistake, was going through the pre launch previews and leaks there was no mention of GPS and in ndtv comparison of old moto g & new gen moto G GPS feature was left blank in newer one, so was disappointed and posted it. Later going through the specs in flipkart GPS is available.
Sorry for the confusion.
